THE KINGS CENTER'S KEY PROGRAMS
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
From 2:30 pm through 6:00 pm on weekdays during the school year. The Center offers specialized programming, structured activities, academic assistance and snacks as part of normal program hours.
Most of our children live in the city school district. Enhanced programming with activities held off-site and outside normal hours are available for all children. Our virtual programming also draws children and families throughout Frankfort and Franklin County.
EXTENDED PROGRAM
During the summer, fall, and spring breaks from school the Center offers an extended learning program. At these times, the Center’s operating hours are extended from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to accommodate children and working parents.
During the summer, in collaboration with the South Frankfort Community Center, most of the participants go to Dolly Graham Park for further programming and play later in the afternoon.
THE KINGS CENTER
Faith United Inc. d/b/a The Kings Center (hereinafter the Center), is a unique Franklin County 501 (c) (3), charitable organization that was established in 1996 and derives its name from Christ the King, Martin Luther King and Peggy King, an LRC employee tragically murdered in the 1990s.
The Center seeks to fulfill its mission by providing a safe, nurturing environment with programming aimed at enriching and enlarging the lives of the children we serve, some of whom may be unsupervised and considered at-risk.
It is important to note that the Center serves children from age 6 up through the teen years and that it accepts children regardless of their place of residence. No child is turned away. The Center’s services are provided free of charge.
INSPIRING STORIES
What Parents Say
My child has participated in activities he had no previous knowledge of! These new experiences changed his perspective.
These programs expand the arts exposure that my child receives. In addition, it allows my child
to interact with other children and people in the community.
What Parents Say
My son was exposed to history and art at the Grand Theatre. This was a great benefit because it allowed him to experience creativity and hopefully inspired his own creative ability.
My child learned to help others. While attending these events, she helped younger children.
What Children Say
I liked the after-school mentoring, summer programs, and field trips. At the Kings Center I learned to be happy with myself, to work hard, and to become fully capable of reaching my potential.
At the Kings Center I was involved with the Step Team, Girl Power, Karate, after school mentoring and the Secret Angels. I learned to simply never forget where I came from. I want to take the knowledge I receive from college and help the other children in my community. Just paying it forward!
